Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) architecture firm has selected our K1 lecterns for the Mashreq Bank Headquarters in Dubai. We are very proud to be associated with this project in the Middle East.
Our K1 lectern fits perfectly with the design of the building itself as if they were both created by the same designer! "They both share the same "half-opened" look. Such a coincidence is incredible" mentions Louis Desrosiers, president of Urbann. "We designed the K1 very singular look back in 2012. And seeing it now almost as if it was 32-story-tall is something remarkable."
SOM is widely known for its achievements all around the world. They are also the ones behind the Burj Khalifa tower, the highest building on Earth. Here's what the firm says about their project:
The 32-story-tall Mashreq Bank Headquarters, with its boldly cantilevered form, will be a new landmark in the Dubai skyline.
The glass facades of the building capture daylight and limit solar gain through a sophisticated series of horizontal and vertical shading devices that articulate the building’s primary facades. The design mitigates glare without obscuring views of the surrounding cityscape, including the Burj Khalifa to the east.
